Inspiration time is any time. With the warmer months come many more ways to engage in the outdoors as well as my studio for the creative process.
I am busy conducting workshops, both in watercolour and mixed media. The next workshop is at Corryong, Victoria October 26 and 27. And another at the end of November in my studio where there are spaces available for anyone wanting to participate. I have travelled to many groups in the region and others have come to my studio. This year I am planning work days in print making for beginners. I have an art show to judge in mid October, and have been invited to paint at a winery which will later mount an exhibition of these paintings at their cellar. Ten students of mine showed their artwork in our garden with a harpist providing music on opening day which proved very successful. More than 200 people attended resulting in good sales. I am very proud of their continuing creativity.
I exhibited at the gallery Art Moment at Bondi Beach, Sydney last December and will be showing there again later this year.
In our bird-friendly country garden the resident kookaburra family continue to provide much laughter, a greeting first thing in the morning and again at day's end. Tiny blue wrens and thornbills playfully add charm around the house. This morning two wrens were happy to be gently sprayed from my hand held hose while flitting in the garden. What a thrill it was!! Beautiful superb parrots have increased in numbers and are nesting in the river gums outside my studio. Tree creepers, though threatened, are still here on our pad. Colourful azure kingfishers have been busy too, the red breasted and red capped robins have left, we await their return at the start of next winter. The renewed health of the environment has provided our billabong a full level of water with waterbirds returning and a myriad of frogs have gathered to vocalize. We are so priviledged, and energised by this.
Hopefully my rebuilt website stirs your imagination to new thoughts and ideas. I am a creative free spirit loving real things, imaginary things, all things that provide me stimulation and inspiration. I have a deep affinity with the natural world, love of birds, animals, the land and environment...from the big, picture to the tiny exquisite dragon flies and ladybirds. Most of my inspiration is sourced from the bush and my garden. Music is also a great love of mine. I hope that my art pieces are complementary to music pieces, having good composition, being rhythmical, colourful, attentive to tonal values and harmonies, and show light and shade etc. Music and art are so closely related and each full of its own wonder and joy.
Tips ands ideas about the creative process:
Get out of your normal surroundings to somewhere new: the park, the river, coffee shop, railway, the Mall, museum, to think, inspire and motivate you. Experience something new then put it down!
