Tips and Ideas - about the Creative Process

Tips ands ideas about the creative process:

Get out of your normal surroundings to somewhere new: the park, the river, coffee shop, railway, the Mall, museum, to think, inspire and motivate you. Experience something new then put it down!

Always have an open mind

COLOUR plays an important role for me. Minimum colour is a good safe means to success

LIGHT is also important in my painting. Colours and tones are affected by the light intensity.  Our strong Australian sun can drain colour.

Transparent watercolour allows the light from the paper to show through and is best achieved by a single wash of colour.

A heavy rough paper can provide an interesting texture as well as being easier to have some of the white paper showing through. This gives life, sparkle and freshness.

TRY THIS      With transparent watercolour enabling the washing-off process, try immersing your painting in water and gently remove some of the unwanted colour, leaving a ghosted image, over which you can apply more glazes.
